April Walker

—Licensed Professional Counselor Intern

April Walker has experience working with clients on difficulties related to depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, substance abuse, self-harm, psychosis and schizophrenia.

April is an advocate for whole person wellness. She believes the focus of counseling should be to improve one’s mental and emotional health. Her primary role is to help clients gain insight into their identity and assist them in reaching their goals. Additionally, April believes the client is in control of their growth and should feel empowered to make the best decisions for themselves without relying on the counselor. It is her hope that during the process of counseling, clients notice an increase of self-awareness, self-control, and self-esteem as well as improvements in their thoughts and behaviors, thereby improving their quality of life.

April adjusts her counseling approach based on the needs and characteristics of the client.
